Biography
B.S., The Pennsylvania State University
Advisor: Christopher de Graffenried
Research Interests: I am interested in Chagas disease, a Neglected Tropical Disease caused by the protozoan parasite Trypanosoma cruzi. I work on the flagellar pocket, the site where the single flagellum exits the cell body, which is thought to have evolved from the feeding organelle of free-living ancestors. Utilizing recent advancements in T. cruzi protein depletion, high-resolution microscopy, and novel live-cell imaging techniques, I aim to describe flagellar pocket morphogenesis during cell and life cycle transitions.
