Environmental Pathology

Research in environmental pathology at Brown is collaborative and varied; students are given ample opportunity to work alongside faculty mentors on a number of active projects.

Funded through a training grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, the Environmental Pathology track aims to impart a fundamental understanding of the mechanisms related to environmental and occupational exposures--including chemicals, mineral fibers, and stress--in order to prevent human disease.

Research in environmental pathology at Brown is collaborative and varied; students are given ample opportunity to work alongside faculty mentors on a number of active projects. A highlight of the program is the annual Symposium in Environmental Pathology. Held in the fall in conjunction with the Graduate Program Retreat, a nationally-recognized researcher in this area is invited as the keynote speaker. Trainees are encouraged to become student members of appropriate professional societies and present their work nationally in these forums.
